J.R.'s first Easter!
So, yes, I know it's been really long since I've posted. I will soon do an update of what my sweet lil guy is doing and has been up to these past couple of months. For now, though, I just wanted to post a pic of him with the big bunny and share a bit about his first Easter. We started out by going to church for Easter. J.R. put on his best Sunday dress (pics will be posted soon). Rog and I became members at the church today formally, so that was nice. J.R. came up with us and did a great job. We had dinner with Eric and Kris (Eric made fantastic stuffed cabbage and we made it a polish affair). Rich, Kate, and cousin David stopped by after dinner, which was a nice way to cap off a nice day! The Easter Bunny brought J.R. a bunny basket that had toys, a stuffed bunny, and some candy. The candy just happened to be some of mommy's favorite, and since J.R. doesn't eat anything but pureed delicacies, he was quite willing to share- thatta boy! Hee hee. Next year, he will get to enjoy his own candy- I promise I won't take any of it. J.R. really had a lot of fun visiting with everyone that was over. Happy 1st Easter, little guy!

It's a....TOOTH!
We went out for a family dinner tonight and had quite a discovery.....I was trying to use my finger to soothe J.R.'s achey gums, when all of a sudden I felt something really sharp. It surprised me! It was his first tooth starting to poke through the gumline! Exciting, yet also a tough thing for the little guy. Apparently, teething is quite painful. I say apparently because I don't remember going through it, although apparently I did, as I have a full set of teeth. J.R.'s been drooling crazily for a couple months now, especially this past month....so we knew it was coming, but feeling the tooth was quite a surprise for both of us! If anyone remembers how it felt to teeth and what you liked best to soothe your gums when you were 6 months (attempt at humor), please post that advice for J.R. Or, perhaps you may have advice that you've read or used with your own kids if your memory doesn't date back to life before 1....he he.

2 hours, really?!
So, I know this blog is about J.R. but I have to post this...and don't worry- I am a teacher- very skilled at relating things that may not seem related. Anyway, my friend Maddie had her baby today. Welcome Laurel Elizabeth! She is beautiful and healthy and was three weeks early. This was Maddie's first baby and I guess her ENTIRE labor was 2 hours....yes, count them....1. 2. I PUSHED for 3!! Not to mention the 30 hours before that of laborific fun! Now, I am not complaining, but Maddie, girl, you are amazingly lucky. I think you are meant to have lots and lots of babies. By the way, Jonathan, sweet baby, you were worth every hour of labor, every second of discomfort- I would do it over again in a heartbeat.
"Ruptured" or "Burst" eardrum- really?? Not a big deal? These words don't sound minor!
That's right. Jonathan has his first ear infection, which caused his little eardrum to rupture or burst, or whatever other strong adjective you want to use to freak a new mom out. I mean, a ruptured spleen, for example...not to be taken lightly, right? An eardrum, though, no it can just burst or rupture and apparently all is good. So, our boy is fine. He got antibiotics- classic pink, nasty, fake liquid bubblegum. At least, it should taste a little bit better once it has time to chill. He's a trooper, though....moreso than his mom. I was nervous when I heard there was a call from our daycare provider, Barb. Then, I was even more nervous when she used that term "burst". When I took him to the doctor, he said everything is fine- it's just a typical ol' average little ear infection....quite common in babies. Jonathan has been a little bit fussier, but not much...mostly just mellow like there is nothing wrong. If you would like to comment on this post, why don't you come up with other adjectives that freak new moms out? On second thought, please don't. I don't need anything else to be worried/nervous about! He he.
